We completed a show of John's back in January, and it was a real pleasure to work with him. We showed a great breadth of subjects; only one-half of the paintings we showed were space paintings. We still have about 65 images up in our online gallery, and still have posters from the show and show catalogs for a small charge.

Nice to see John Berkey mentioned. I think you can still get the posters he did for the annual show at the Society of Illustrators in NY. There was another monograph on him called "Painted Space" a while back too (predates the Paper Tiger one). Interestingly, I talked to Syd Mead last year about who he was influenced by and the first person he mentioned was John Berkey because of his "painterly" approach.

John Berkey is God. No one can mix incredibly detailed and complex designs, impressionistic simplicity and originality of vision like him.

There's a wonderful sixties vibe to his stuff that I find irresistable. Just imagine zapping around the universe in snow-white space ships that looks like a mix between an abstract sculpture and an ocean liner. I guess the future isn't what it used to be, eh?

Maybe you want to search for the art of Chris Foss. This guy makes the best space-ships (to my opinion). If you examine the ships you see that he get's a lot of inspiration from fishes and other deep sea creatures.
