The book I have lists it as black and white chalk ("crayon" in French) on blue paper.

You might want to try Conté Crayons. I doubt the paper is very blue. I don't have any better description of the paper.

There is a larger crop of the image <a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_wcwcwdg0cJM/TTvFVJ4DdyI/AAAAAAAABAQ/xnZua0R4cwA/s1600/prudhoncrop.jpg" rel="nofollow">here</a>. The original is in the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, but I can't find mention of it on their site.

Hi, My name is Audrey and I want to recreate this image for a class assignment. I was wondering if you could tell me if this is the drawings actual tones and colors and if you know what medium it was done in and on what type of paper? It would be a really big help

Thank you very much!

hi there, I love this article you have on Prud'on. I was introduced by his work while going through stacks of books in my school's library and found "The Language of the Body." I was so overtaken by his figure drawings that I hold them as the ideal way of portraying the human form. I hold him and Michelangelo as the greatest figure draftsmen. I was lucky enough to purchase the book "The Language of the Body" a few years ago. I paid the regular price for it which was high back then but I'm glad I did because this book is hard to find now since it's out of print.
Take care!
