You must make a trip to Lincoln Center to see Ann Marshal's new show! The jpegs on her website will give a taste of what is to come, but do not compare to the scale and detail of the drawing/collages in person. These are big pieces, the figures are close to life size and the collage work swirls around the picture plane, adding a variety of textures and subtle color shifts that need to be examined up close. The show is a must for anyone interested in contemporary portrait work, mixed media works on paper, or has an affinity for the soft, fleshy color shifts found in Sargent or Klimt.
