I sometimes think there is nothing so delightful as drawing.
-Vincent van Gogh
If people knew how hard I worked to get my mastery, it wouldn't seem so wonderful at all.

Peter Clarke

Peter Clarke
Peter Clarke is another of those artists I’ve come across whose work is fascinating but about whom I can find little information.

His stealth portfolio, apparently intended for those who already know who he is, consists of 15 sheets of images, a contact link and a “Credits” link that simply sends you to his entry on the Internet Movie Database, where I learned that he has been a concept designer or visual development artist on movies like Ice Age, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Treasure Planet, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Dinosaur, Fantasia/2000 and Pocahontas.

The work he has posted, though not labeled by project, is intricate and wonderfully realized. Some of it is obviously concept art for the films, but other pieces look more like they were intended as book illustrations. Those have a rich, textured feeling in the rendering, with a nice stylized sharpness in the drawing of the forms.

Hopefully his portfolio site is a work in progress and we will see much more from him, and perhaps learn a little bit about who he is and how he works, in the future.

There was a book about Peter Clarke. I think you still might be able to order it through Bud Plant.
    His work is pretty awesome!

Wow – I really like the art I’ve seen on this site. I’ll def check it out again.

I’m doing an art project – it’s drawing (with lines, but not much color) & video but it involves writing too, so I thought you might be interested since you write this blog…

Check it out if you have a sec – - – Perceival.

His art is great, maybe the best, but on the inside he is rotten. He’d never show what’s really inside.
