		<description>I love Bernini as well but just so you know blauereiter, I am almost positive Michelangelo is the creator of Pieta, not Bernini. Though I agree it is a beautiful piece.</description>

		<description>You mentioned that Bernini meant for the stature to be viewed from behind Apollo.  Do you know why?  It looks as if Daphne might be more tree-like from that vantage, as if the fact that she is mid transformation would come as more of a surprise as you walked around, but I am just guessing.

I checked out your David links.  Bernini&#039;s is certainly more gruff than the others.  Per haps more life-like.  I most definitely captures MOVEMENT.  The figure or David looks ready to leap righ off the pedistal.</description>
