Every time, these days, I re-research a favorite artist, I end up back here on Lines and Colors. Amazing. I really like Rian Hughes work too but am more of a fan of his vintage greeting cards. They remind me a little bit of Shag's art, particularly the ones depicting winter ski resorts. Good stuff! THANK YOU Charlie. Betty.

Correction - Mike McMahons art was appearing in a comic book called toxic . It was printed around the same time as Revolver so you'll have to forgive me for the confusion .

Unfortunately it suffered a similar fate to Revolver and was canned .Shame really .
Both magazines were really trying to be different at the time .

Great to see his work noted and recognised here on lines and colors.
I remember seeing his work for the first time on the Dare story just a bit before Revolver was cancelled as a magazine . I never got to read the entire story but the artwork and the way the story was headed were great . It really had a different look compared to the rest of the artwork being produced in other comic books at the time . Both he and noted artist Mike McMahon were producing artwork in revolver that to this day I love peruse once in a while . Truly great stuff .

I actually got Rian to sign the first issue of revolver at a forbidden planet signing in Dublin many years ago. He signed it " Rian fins 'n chrome hughes " .

Cheers Charley .
