I've talked to at least one gallery owner who had an article on his show run without advertising; though he said he was strongly encouraged to advertise.

I've also noticed a continuing predominance of ads for galleries in Arizona and Soutn Carolina, and, over time, a hgh precentage of articles about artists and shows in those areas.

I'll cut them some slack, though, for getting up and running; I think the magazine is only a few years old.

First I should admit to very much enjoying this magazine and a great many of the artists featured in it. But the exceedingly high correlation between those featured and those whose galleries have ads in the magazine makes this journalist suspicious: Which comes first, the ad or the decision on whom to do a story? One cannot escape the suspicion that the purchase of an ad is a ticket to coverage.

It's pretty awesome that an art site succumbed to a page-turning bit of flash kitsch. Although I'll admit to a secret occasional love of fake page-turning if it's done well. It has to actually be useful, not gratuitous!
