		<description>Landscape painter David Dunlop has put together a very interesting series, which appeared on PBS, on just this topic. He starts with JMW Turner, but quickly turns to the Hudson River School, then the French Impressionists, then the American Impressionist colony painting in Giverny, he finishes up with the American Impressionist school painting at both Woodstock and then Old Lyme in Connecticut. It appears that artists like Metcalf were involved in more than one of these colonies.</description>

		<description>We stopped off at this American Impressionist museum as we were leaving Giverny. What a most fantastic surprise. I still remember one painting by Friescke and am making the trip to Albany to see more of his paintings. How magificently enchanting.</description>
