I wandered in here by googling Larry’s current work. I’ve known and liked Larry and his work a long time. I’m glad for him that you found it an are writing about it. It never disappoints in person.

Francis is teaching a summer class on plein air painting in gouache this year at PAFA. I’m hoping to attend.

Good post. I met Larry last spring when I came down to Philly to get painting done for my FAN show. We were each doing our own painting on either end of a block on Market St. He came up and introduced himself and was a really nice guy. It was great to see his sketch book that day, in which he had some of these gouaches that he was working on.

His paintings are interesting because of how precise they are for plein air painting. And I really like the scenes he chooses. Some are the most ordinary of suburban landscapes… but he finds a certain poetry there. I haven’t seen the larger oils but I hope to get a chance to the next time I’m in Philly.

I am relatively new to this site.

While I am not an artist and am just an average guy, by visiting this blog I am learning to appreciate the various artists and their work.

I would never be able to explore and see all these wonderful things.
